SMILE LASER RELEX

Laser treatment, commonly known as vision correction, is applied to people with refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, allowing them to continue their lives without the need for glasses or contact lenses.

Smile laser is the most recent method introduced today.

This method offers more advantages to people undergoing laser treatment compared to other methods.

Why is the SMILE laser method more advantageous than other methods?

SMILE Relex is faster compared to other methods, resulting in reduced stress for the patient during the operation. The procedure takes approximately 9 seconds for a single eye.

When performing the SMILE Relex method, a small incision of about 2 mm is made. This facilitates quicker recovery and lessens post-operative pain.

People with dry eyes are generally less suitable candidates for laser treatment. However, the SMILE method is often applicable to patients with dry eyes.

The SMILE method offers several advantages, particularly for professions with a high risk of mechanical trauma, such as athletes (including those in impact sports, divers, weightlifters, and those engaging in outdoor sports in cold and windy conditions), firefighters, police officers, and soldiers.

Individuals considering laser treatment should consult an ophthalmologist for a comprehensive laser examination

iLASIK (iDESIGN WAVEFRONT)

iLASIK is a widely used method in refractive eye surgery and is used to correct refractive errors such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. iDesign Wavefront, as a component of LASIK surgery, is a technology used to provide customized and more accurate vision correction, particularly to enhance visual acuity.

About LASIK and iDesign Wavefront method

LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis): The LASIK process begins by creating a flap (a small cover) that opens the cornea, the front surface of the eye. The lower layer of the cornea is then accessed using a femtosecond laser or an instrument called a microkeratome.

At this point, a laser is used to change the shape of the cornea to correct the refractive error of the eye.

iDesign Wavefront technology: iDesign is a wavefront analysis system used as part of LASIK surgery. This system maps the characteristics of the patient’s eye in great detail. The resulting map identifies the unique structure and errors of each patient’s eye. Using this custom map, iDesign creates a more personalized treatment plan, providing vision correction that is better suited to the needs of each patient.

Advantages: The iDesign Wavefront method offers a more accurate and customized treatment compared to traditional LASIK. This increases the likelihood of achieving clearer vision and can reduce night vision issues. Additionally, it can assist in correcting complex refractive errors such as astigmatism.

FEMTOSECOND LASER (INTRALASE)

Femtosecond laser (IntraLase) is a commonly used method in eye laser treatments. This method is used as a part of refractive surgical procedures such as LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) or SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction). Femtosecond laser is applied to correct refractive errors like myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism by reshaping the cornea.

Femtosecond laser (IntraLase) method

  • Corneal incision
  • Cutting with femtoseconds
  • Recovery process
  • High reliability

When the femtosecond laser is used in place of traditional mechanical tools in refractive surgical procedures, it offers numerous advantages. Along with benefits such as the ability to make more accurate incisions, a better recovery process, and reduced risks, it has become a preferred method for many patients with suitable eye structures.

However, every patient’s eye structure is unique. Therefore, which method is suitable for your eye structure can be determined by an ophthalmologist after a comprehensive laser examination. Your ophthalmologist will recommend the most appropriate treatment based on the characteristics and needs of your eyes. It is essential to consult with a specialist ophthalmologist to learn more about femtosecond laser (IntraLase) or other laser surgical methods and make a decision.

FAQ

This is a list of frequently asked questions that may help you understand more about the procedure.

Laser surgery neither prevents nor results in a future eye treatment (including cataract surgery).

Laser surgeries are determined based on the person’s eye structure and diopter values. Individuals whose preoperative checks show that they are suitable for a laser surgery are treated by laser treatment methods which are most appropriate for their eye structure and will achieve a high level of success.

A laser surgery is completed in a short time of about 5-10 minutes.

Bleeding doesn’t occur in laser treatment since it is administered in the cornea, an eye tissue without veins. Laser treatment is also painless since it is performed under topical anesthesia (eye drop).
